10th International Thematic PRA Training Workshop [11 to 22 September 2006]

Dear Friend,

We are pleased to announce the 10th International
Thematic PRA Training Workshop to be organized from
11th to 22nd September 2006 at the National Institute
of Small Industry Extension and Training (NISIET),
Yusufguda, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. As part of the
opening session, an International Symposium on 'Three
decades of PRA' will also take place on September 11
(morning) at the same venue.

In addition to Praxis facilitators, the workshop would
be facilitated by some of the best-known proponents of
PRA/ PLA in the world today. Dr. Robert Chambers, from
the University of Sussex (UK), would take all the
participants (in two batches) through a day and a half
long module on Attitude, Behaviour and Change (ABC).
Other prominent facilitators of this edition would be
Mr. Josh Levene, Mr. Sam Joseph and Ms. Sheelu Francis.

Over 1,000 participants from 25 countries and several
organizations including ActionAid, CARE, CCF,
IDS-Sussex, IIED-London, NIPRANET-Nigeria, OXFAM,
Concern Worldwide, Rural Research Centre - Iran, UNOPS,
Water Aid and World Bank have participated in our
workshops and have proclaimed them as "outstanding!"

q Explore the principles, approaches and tools of
participatory methodologies;
q Discovering the latest innovations developed by
practitioners worldwide;
q Provide invaluable hands-on learning
opportunities through field work in villages and urban
q Focus on participatory methodologies in
specific thematic work areas.

The following four training modules will run
simultaneously and participants may choose the topic
that interests them most. The modules being offered in
this edition are:

Community Led Monitoring and Evaluation (earlier called
Participatory M & E)
Community Led Local Level Planning (earlier called
Participatory Micro Level Planning)
Participatory Methods and Approaches (essentials of
Facilitating Participation-Training of Trainers

Module outlines as well as application forms are

indicate two modules in the order of your preference.

· Euros 1,250 for international participants
(outside India)
· Rs 20,000 (except for staff of bilateral &
multilateral organisations, and UN organisations)
· Rs 30,000 for staff of bilateral as well as
multilateral organisations, and UN organisations
q Fees include board, lodging on a twin-sharing
basis, reading material and local transport.
