MDGs Media Awards Accepting Entries
The 1st Asia-Pacific Millennium Development Goals Media Awards, which honour outstanding reporting/writing on the MDGs in print, radio and TV, is now accepting entries in English and in local languages.
The MDGs Media Awards was launched in cooperation with UNESCAP, United Nations Development Programme, and the Asian Development Bank at the South Asia MDG Forum in Nepal in October.
The competition is open to all radio and TV producers/journalists from public service broadcasting organisations, private networks and freelance producers covering the Asia Pacific region. The Awards carry a prize of 7,000 U.S. dollars for first prize winners in each category, and 2,000-dollar prize for runners up.
Entries in the local language must be accompanied by a typewritten English translation and a written certification from the chief editor of the newspaper/magazine, which published the article that the translation truly reflects the content of the article in the local language.
For radio, entries must be acompanied by a typewritten English translation, and entries for TV must have English subtitles. A written certification on the translation from the executive producer/chief editor also applies for broadcast entries.
Deadline for entries is 25 March 2007. Winners will be announced during the 63rd UNESCAP Commission Session scheduled for April 2007.
