We are pleased to inform you that Centre for Media Studies (CMS), New Delhi, is organizing Banglore CMS Vatavaran 2006 – Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival. Bangalore CMS Vatavaran 2006 is being held in collaboration with Suchitra Film Society and Alliance Francaise de Bangalore in support with Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (part of Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Sciences) and ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment). The Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India is supporting this initiative. The festival will take place from October 6-8, 2006 at the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, Vasanth Nagar, Bangalore.
Bangalore CMS Vatavaran is part of the second traveling film festival. CMS has been organizing the competitive CMS Vatavaran – India’s premier environment and wildlife film festival with the support of the Ministry of Environment and forests, Government of India, since 2002. To promote the message of environmental conservation nationwide, the festival travels to different cities with award winning films from its various editions. In 2006 the festival will be held in several cities including Srinagar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ranchi and Guwahati besides Chandigarh, Kolkata, Pune, Sirmour and Abu Dhabi where the festival has already been organized this year.
The film festival looks forward to become a catalyst of change for the conservation of the ecology, which will ultimately help propel the growth of the economy. It is the environment and economy inter linkages, which the festival seeks to highlight through the best of Indian films on conservation issues along with interactive discussions with filmmakers and subject experts. Parallel to the screenings will be knowledge symposia and photo exhibitions. The venue will also have a film bazaar and stalls of development organizations. The special feature of Banglore CMS Vatavaran will be special screenings for children and students of colleges, university and mass communication institutes apart from general public.
We expect a large number of participation from the concerned individuals, student community, faculty of various colleges, environmentalists, researchers, conversationalists, activists, policy makers, NGO representatives and similar organisation.
Come to Rejoice Nature
