(A) Objectives:

The training's objective is to start to train local Indian trainers in
the approach (with the local trainers broad-based across as many
government and non-government organizations and academic institutions
as possible, consisting of NGO personnel involved in providing
psycho-social services to tsunami as well as other trauma survivors,
counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and
educators from relevant academic departments) so that they can
eventually serve as trainers to those serving tsunami trauma survivors
as well those serving survivors of a range of other traumas such as
floods, fires, cyclones, war, terrorism, domestic violence, physical
and sexual abuse, automobile accidents, abandonment, serious illness
such as AIDS. The local trainers and those they train in turn will be
able to respond to local disasters and offer trauma relief to
survivors in terms of first-aid as well as treatments which would
include effective self-help strategies.

(B) Who can attend:

Trauma survivors, counselors, social workers, psychologists,
psychiatrists, and educators from relevant academic departments
Persons knowing English

(C) Some information about training:

Trauma Vidya's short-term trauma resolution approach, which uses
scientific knowledge of the neuro-physiology of trauma and the
self-healing capacities of the human nervous system to train trauma
survivors to treat themselves and others with simple self-help
strategies, has been found to be quite effective in resolving trauma
symptoms among tsunami survivors in Tamil Nadu through follow-up
research after the February 2006 trip with a control group, and after
the June 2005 trip without a control group


Training will be free of cost. Lunch, refreshment and material will be
