14 October 2006: World Conference to commemorate 'Religious Freedom Day'

World Conference to commemorate 'Religious Freedom Day'

New Delhi, 22nd June, 2006.

Dr. Udit Raj, Chairman of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations, stated that 14th October, 2006 will be marked as 'Religious Freedom Day' at Nagpur because Dhamma Diksha led by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar will be completing golden jubilee and completion of 2550 years of Lord Buddha Parinirvana and his birth anniversary as well. This is a rare co-incidence. The Govt. of India has also decided to dedicate the year 2006 as Parinirvana of Lord Buddha. He, however, said that India lacks appropriate philosophy and thoughts and if there is suffering in the society then it is not because of lack of natural and human resources.

Dr. Udit Raj said that anyone is welcome to join the occasion.
