The Department of Information Technology (DIT), in the year 2002 has instituted an Award Scheme for Excellence in Computer Literacy and Information Technology in Schools at State and National Level to create IT awareness among schools and to encourage Computer Literacy among students in early stage of schooling. All Government and Private recognized schools in India, teaching Computers and Information Technology as a subject in their schools are eligible to compete for the award. The awards to the National Level and State level winners are distributed by President of India every year. The last date for submission of applications by schools for participating in the “4th Computer Literacy Excellence Awards Scheme for Schools 2005 (CLEAS-2005)” which was originally stipulated as 15th January 2007 has now been extended to 15th February, 2007.

The Summer School 2007 of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the fifth one on “Engendering Economic Policies in a Globalizing World”, will take place from July 27th (arrival) to August 4th, 2007 (departure). It is being organized jointly by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Berlin and the Heinrich Böll Foundation North America in Washington, DC. The Summer School 2007 will focus on the importance of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) in the current multilateral system and their role – and the role of national member governments – in shaping the economic policy advice they give to developing countries with often adverse effects on the world’s poor people, a majority of whom are women.

Call for papers: Research for Sex Work

The annual publication Research for Sex Work seeks contributors for its next issue. The theme of this tenth issue is the sex workers rights movement. Research for Sex Work welcomes three types of articles: 1) research results, 2) project or programme descriptions and 3) analyses/overview articles. Research for Sex Work aims to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, observations and research results with regards to sex work and HIV prevention in the broader framework of health and human rights.
